Made-to-Order Bojagi Curtains for a House in Crete

May 2023.

Two custom-made curtains, a commission inspired by the Korean textile tradition of bojagi — a patchwork technique celebrating irregularity, transparency, and the beauty of hand construction.

Each panel was carefully pieced together using naturally dyed linen, creating a soft interplay of light, texture, and earthy tones. The fabrics were dyed by hand using madder root, cutch, onion skins, and acorns, resulting in warm hues that shift gently throughout the day with the changing light.

Designed as both a functional textile and an atmospheric art piece, the curtains bring warmth, calmness, and a quiet connection to nature into the space. Every seam, dye variation, and tonal transition reflects the handmade process and the beauty of slow textile practices.
