Sold Out

This large floor cushion is a one-of-a-kind textile piece created using traditional batik and natural indigo dyeing techniques.

The top panel is made from undyed silk sourced from Soufli, Greece. The fabric was hand batiked and naturally dyed with indigo by Christiana creating layered organic patterns in deep blue tones.

The sides and back are made from undyed linen sourced from Japan, chosen for its strength and natural texture. The cushion is constructed using a patchwork technique, carefully machine sewn in our Athens-based studio by Maria.

The generous size makes it ideal as a floor cushion for relaxed seating, meditation, or reading spaces, while also functioning as a sculptural textile object within the home.
Size: approximately 65 × 65 cm

Please note:
Pillowcase only – filling is not included.

Batik

Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique which originated in Indonesia.

The applied wax resists the dyes and therefore allows us to colour selectively by dyeing fabric in one colour and then removing the wax. In our practice, this is usually repeated a few times, creating layers with many different colours.

Natural Dyeing

Botanical dyeing is a slow process, that can be unpredictable and there are often pleasant colour surprises. It takes several hours to extract the natural pigment from plants, sometimes even days!
