Sold Out

This one-of-a-kind linen cushion is created using traditional batik resist techniques combined with natural dyeing.

The front of the cushion is made from undyed linen sourced from Lille, France. The fabric was hand batiked by Christiana and first naturally dyed with madder root, then batiked again and over-dyed with cutch, creating a layered pattern of warm earthy tones with delicate resist markings.

The back of the cushion is made from undyed 100% linen, also sourced from Lille, France.

The cushion cover is carefully machine sewn by Violeta in our Athens-based studio and finished with a clean envelope closure.
Size: approximately 45 × 45 cm

Please note:
Pillowcase only – filling is not included.

Batik

Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique which originated in Indonesia.

The applied wax resists the dyes and therefore allows us to colour selectively by dyeing fabric in one colour and then removing the wax. In our practice, this is usually repeated a few times, creating layers with many different colours.

Natural Dyeing

Botanical dyeing is a slow process, that can be unpredictable and there are often pleasant colour surprises. It takes several hours to extract the natural pigment from plants, sometimes even days!
