"Circe" Hand-Woven Naturally Dyed Cotton Cushion Cover

A hand-woven cotton cushion crafted in our Athens-based studio using traditional weaving and natural dye techniques.

The textile is hand-woven on our studio’s floor loom by Christiana, combining un-dyed and indigo-dyed cotton yarns in the warp with cotton weft yarns naturally dyed with cutch, indigo, chamomile, and marigolds. These botanical dyes create a gentle palette of deep blues, warm golden tones, and earthy hues.

The cushion features an envelope closure made from 100% linen sourced from France, naturally dyed with onion skins, adding a subtle warm contrast to the woven textile.

Each piece is machine sewn by Violeta in our Athens-based studio.

Natural Dyeing

Botanical dyeing is a slow process, that can be unpredictable and there are often pleasant colour surprises. It takes several hours to extract the natural pigment from plants, sometimes even days!

 

Weaving

Christiana started weaving in university, but really felt in love with weaving while travelling in Asia. One of her favourite techniques is ikat. In the studio Christiana uses her big floor loom to weave items for the home such as table and bed runners, pillows, placemats as well as custom orders for rugs, blankets and throws.
