It’s a Shirt Roots Collection

Its a Shirt is a unique Athens-based clothing project rooted in a family heritage of tailoring and garment production, continuing a story that began in Greece in the 1980s. The brand creates unisex garments with slow, thoughtful processes and timeless design, embracing simplicity, high-quality materials, and pieces that are made to endure both practically and aesthetically. It isn’t just about shirts — it’s about the stories behind them and the care that goes into crafting every piece. 

Our collaboration in 2024 was born from a shared love of fabric, craft, and colour. Christina’s aunt had brought back beautiful silk from India many years ago, and this treasured material became the heart of our project together. I worked with the silk using natural dyes to create a carefully considered palette: soft purples with logwood, yellow and green tones from onion skins, a bundle dye using only onion skins, and deep reds with madder — each expression revealing the innate beauty of the silk and the plants that coloured it.

These naturally dyed silk pieces became part of the Roots collection, a collaboration that celebrates heritage, slow craft, and the meaningful layering of natural colour onto timeless garments.
