Aspasia Restaurant x Christiana Vardakou
This project was created for Aspasia Restaurant, a place deeply connected to the landscape and rhythms of Mani.
A series of linen and cotton textiles were naturally dyed to be used as wine serving towels—objects that accompany a simple, intimate ritual: the sharing of wine.
The fabrics were dyed using plant-based pigments, creating a palette that feels both grounded and alive—soft yellows, muted greens, earthy purples, and smoky blues. Each piece carries subtle variations, like traces of movement, echoing the unpredictability of nature and the passage of time.
Rather than approaching these textiles as uniform tools, they were treated as individual surfaces—each one holding its own composition, its own atmosphere. When wrapped around a bottle or held in the hand, they become part of the dining experience: tactile, quiet, and sensory.
The project reflects a shared philosophy with Aspasia—one that values slowness, locality, and attention to detail. Just as the food and wine are rooted in the land, so too are the textiles that accompany them.
These cloths are not only functional; they are gestures of care. They soften the act of serving, inviting a moment of pause, and bringing the presence of nature directly to the table.
